The question essentially asks, "are 5 spends equal"
statement 1 says "she spent the same amount at any 3 of the 5 restaurants"
now deciphering this.
Let's say she spent A, B, C, D, E at each restaurant respectively
statement 1 says "she spent the SAME AT ANY 3" i.e.
1. If you compare A, B, C - it's equal
2. If you compare C, D, E - it's equal.
this must mean that she spent the SAME amount at all of the 5 restaurants.
Hence, sufficient.
In point 1. D,E would be higher than median
And point 2. A,B lower than median

But I guess, “any 3” would not hold true...let me know if I am thinking right

Why would D and E be higher than the median?

If I am taking A B C as equal, then I can take D E to be higher then them. I mean why not?

Median doesn't necessarily mean the latter terms have to be more than the median.
For a set [100,100,100,100,100] - there will still be a median, and it'll still be 100.
