A. 7
B. 8
C. 9
D. 16
E. 256


­\(4^{(4^{4})} = 2^{(2^x)}\)

­\((2^2)^{((2^2)^{4})} = 2^{(2^x)}\)

­\((2^2)^{(2^8)} = 2^{(2^x)}\)

­\(2^{2*2^8} = 2^{(2^x)}\)

­\(2^{2^9} = 2^{(2^x)}\)

\( ­x = 9\)

Answer: C.­
