GMAT/TOEFL sending scores problem

Question

Dear GMATCLUB forumers

Today I sent GMAT/TOEFL official scores to my targeted schools,

GMAT scores seemed more straightforward, but in many cases with TOEFL, school codes that were displayed on mba program pages were not present in toefl system. Some schools specify departments such as 02. Toefl never displayed such a department, in some cases it never allowed me to choose a department at all.

To avoid all the confusion, is there any way I can know my targeted school got my gmat/toefl scores ? Like in my application page, is there any indication? because if now, I might try all over again, do not want to get dinged for a trivial reason.

Hi. Good question. It would be annoying if you were disqualified due to a TOEFL score though unlikely.

Your application should reflect receipt of all the test scores including English proficiency tests. Keep in mind, that it is a manual process which means the school coordinator has to login to the TOEFL system and match the name and DOB and put a check mark on your application. This should reflect receipt of scores.

PS. Hopefully to make you feel a little better, I have not heard any reports on GMAT Club of people not having their TOEFL scores delivered or available.

I think it’s a little bit more straightforward and easier with GMAT because GMAT is only used by a handful of programs at each university whereas TOEFL can be used by any student applying to graduate or undergraduate or any other degree…. So a much higher volume and they know how to deal with these questions. My guess there is a single account where all of the scores for the university arrive to and then each college and each department dig through the database.

PS. Have you applied in round one? Or are you shooting for R2?

Like a legend, you always appear when I need guidance most.

Im applying for R2, do you think calling adcom is a good idea to check it or I will just annoy them?

You can totally call them. However there’s nobody there today or tomorrow so you’ll have to wait until at least Monday.

Also, some schools don’t match or verify scores until much later point in time since some people may send their scores the day before the deadline. Some people may actually take the GMAT the day before the deadline and the scores will not get sent for another 10 to 20 days…

As a result, there’s usually lag from when you submit scores and when they are matched. There’s even a few business schools that only verify GMAT scores after admitting somebody. I find it a little crazy.

But there is no issue or risk with Calling the admissions. It’s not like they’re going to ding you because you dare to call them
