Dear GMAT experts,

My career situation:
I have more than 7 years of working experience as Software Engineer/Designer/Architect/Project Lead. I am currently working in Dusseldorf, Germany.

My GMAT saga:
I was born in India and my education from childhood was English. However grammatically(GMATically) I am not so great at English. English was always my second language.
I prepared for GMAT in 2013 for a span of 2 months and gave up preparation since I got a new career opportunity in Germany. I moved to Germany and learned German, and over a period of time working and living in Germany has given me a great edge on German but my English became worst.

GMAT-Prep test:
In my last GMAT prep test, I secured a score of 470 (V-11, Q-43). I am devastated by this :hurt:
I am aspiring a score of 730-750 to enter my dream B-school :x I know how to improve my score from Q43-Q50, but I am clueless about improving my verbal score from V11-V40.
I knew it is difficult but not impossible.

I seek guidance and tips for Verbal preparation from GMAT experts here. Could you please guide me? :? Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to the Gmat club. This forum has more than enough resources to take your score higher. V11 is a very low score and moving up from here will be a difficult task.
I suggest you to work on Verbal from GC verbal directory along with MGMAT Verbal guides. I suggest you take a specialise course which suits your budget. MAGOOSH and EmpowerGmat are good and reasonable ones.

Hi vin2win,

To start, this CAT score isn't too bad (the average Score on the Official GMAT hovers around 540-550 most years). Raising a 470 to a 730+ will likely require at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study though - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) What studying - if any - have you done so far this year?
2) What study materials do you currently possess?

Goals:
3) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
