GMAT Waiver – Does it Harm EMBA Admissions Odds?
If you secure a GMAT waiver at a school like UCLA or Duke, which otherwise requires the GMAT score for any EMBA applicant, will you reduce your chances for gaining admission to the school that grants you the waiver? This is a question we encounter among prospective EMBA candidates. The answer is, “No, the GMAT waiver should not reduce your odds of success.”
The EMBA admissions committee will only extend a waiver to a candidate they feel certain has demonstrated great quantitative strength already, therefore the GMAT is an unnecessary metric for them to review in making an admissions decision. Moreover, if they extend a waiver to you, they know they are making it easier for you to apply. In many cases, this means they like your candidacy already. So it can be a good sign.
