Hello
Just curious if the
gmatclub tests vary the question types one would see?
If the actual gmat has, say 1 or 2 questions on probability, would the gmatclub test mimic, on average, what the actual gmat would test?
Posted from my mobile deviceHi. Happy thanksgiving 😊
Yes. The tests are built using a certain formula for a number of questions and the ranges for certain question types. Some question types such as geometry may vary 3 to 5 for example (I can’t remember actual values, this is only an example) and others such as probability for example may have a range between zero and three. This is because people have reported sometimes not seeing a single probability question on the test. Then within those ranges, questions are picked based on the difficulty. This is one reason you need a pretty large question database….
Bottom line, each of the tests will be slightly different in terms of the composition of the number of questions of a certain type. Sometimes you may get few probability questions, sometimes you may get none and so on. This does help with making more tests out of the database as well because if you have a lot of hard probability questions left, then your test will be loaded with more of those and if you have used them up, then your test will be loaded with more geometry for example. Again, probability in geometry or just examples and not actual exact counts 😇
