The passage says that the polio vaccine (cause) was the sorce of the virus SD40 found in mesothelioma (effect). To strengthen the author's arguement we need to support this relationship (cause-effect). One of the ways is to show that if the cause doesn't occur the effect doesn't occur, since the author believes that the cause is the only possible cause for the stated effect.
Answer E reveals this fact : in Finland where the polio vaccine was not contamined (the cause didn't occur) the virus was not found ( the effect didn't occur). I hope this helps

Thank you for the explanation. I am starting to see your point. However, I still don't understand how answer C is not more convincing in strenthening the argument. BTW, is this a hard question, or am I just too bad with CR questions?
