About your DS problems, the best way to me is to come and to particiapte on the Q section... Post your way to arrive to your solution : wrong or not is not the most important.... The most important thing is that u explore your own mistakes and reasonings by comparing them with what other people do :)

U will learn both basics & technics by this manner to study :).... Of course, when u feel that u "are lacking" of basic on specific areas.... just ask about it ! :).... All guys would be happy to give more information :)

Good luck on it :)

I need help.

I've been emailing positive_soul for some time. His advices are really helpful. I improved my verbal from V20 to V37. I know there are a lot of people out there who can also help me, and I'm desperately asking for your advice,..

My study habits:
School just started this week. So now I can only study at least one hour every week day. I am still in college (I am taking the GMAT just to get into an MS program, not MBA.)

Weekends, I only study Sunday. I study more than five hours every Sunday.

What I have been doing:
1. PR --> It's not my favorite book in the world. It gives a lot of tricks,.. that's it.

2. Kaplan --> Not very helpful. I found its problems very different from those of GMATprep's and OG's. I still plan to do all the problems in the CD. I am not so sure about the book. I didn't even finish half of it, should I?

3. OG Verbal and Quant --> More than 75% done. It's amazing how these books help me. I still have the OG 11 after this. Thank God :)

Weaknesses:

1. Quant
--> My quant improved from Q28-35 to Q39. I've been reading the Manhattan Word Translation for word problems. It helps me with the basics. After I finish it, I'll go through Manhattan Fractions/Decimals. Any advice? What else do I need to break the Q40 barrier? Should I finish the Manhattan books before I touch OG11? Any techniques on how I should be studying?

--> Data Sufficiency is my biggest weakness. I have been doing DS problems in the OG Quant. Is that enough? How else can I improve my DS? I took the Kaplan Diagnostic last month. I scored a 65%. I am quite happy with how everything went, except for the DS. I only made two mistakes in Verbal and a number of mistakes in PS. But I only answered ONE correct DS question. My DS is horrible. I don't feel that doing DS problems in the OG is enough. I hope I can learn some techniques from you guys on how to approach every problem..., or is there a must have prep book I should get a hold of?

2. Verbal
--> RC/CR: Ok. I'm doing positive_soul's technique. I think I'll be okay.
--> SC: Ok I have a lot of problems with verb tenses. I just got hold of the Manhattan SC lately. 40 pages down, a lot more to go.

Overall, I think I am doing fine.

Should I be worried that my Q39 V37 breakdown is not well balanced? I'll be very happy with a Q43 V41.

If there's anything you guys can share, it'll be great. If you don't feel like posting, please send me a private message. I don't care whether you scored 750 or 450. I want to make the most out of my 3 months.

Thank you

Strength and honor
Gabriel.

THANK YOU GUYS.

RC/CR:

1. Solve problems in blocks of 10-15.
2. Stop and check answers after.
3. Spend a few minutes understanding every question, and every answer choice (even if you get them right.) Do not rush yourself. Analyze each answer and find why the correct answer is RIGHT and the four remaining are WRONG.

That's it. If you keep doing that, you will notice that all the questions follow a pattern.. I still haven't mastered it yet. I hope we all continue to improve. Good luck to us:)
