Please clear my doubt. On the test I selected C. Thats not the OA.
Is the problem misleading us with the word 'one kind of' .
Statements 1 and 2 are giving general info abt some other kind maybe.

So from the stem, total spent was $6.00, which was spent on some combination of cupcakes and doughnuts, and we are asked to find the number of doughnuts bought.
Statement A works out to 2D = 3C-$.10 (where D is doughnut and C is cupcake). So that's no help.
Statement B works out to (D+C)/2 = $.35. So you know that D+C is $.70, but you still have no idea how much each individual pastry costs. So that's no help.
Together, still no good. We cannot break out either cost for either pastry.
E it is.

I think we can solve equations in 1 and 2 to get the cost of doughnut and cupcake. But we still cannot get the number of doughnuts. So E.
I had used incorrect variables to setup equation my mistake.
