There is something fundamental I am missing while solving this problem. Please solve this step-by-step for me.

ST. 1-
Avg. Salary of all employees= E
Avg. Salary of Managers= M= E-5000
INSUFF
ST. 2-
Avg. Salary of Directors= D= E+15,000
INSUFF

1&2 combined
(E-5000)M+(E+15000)D= E(M+D)
EM-5000M+ED+15000D=EM+ED
15000D=5000M
3D=M
D=M/3
there are three times as many managers as directors. C.
