I took the GMATPrep 1 and 2 back in December when I first started studying. I made a miserable 530 and 540 respectively. Then I took GMATPrep 1 and 2 again one week ago and 2 days ago respectively and made 560 and 640 (q47 v32). I am concerned with how to deal with repeat questions. The first 2 CATs 1&2 had no overlap. The second time around on CAT1 I saw 2 repeats, 1 on Quant and 1 on Verbal, but didn't remember the answers exactly. On CAT2 however, I saw 5 repeats each on Quant and Verbal (10 total) from either previous tests or the OG .I had to rework 5 of the questions and actually got 1 of them wrong. On 2 of the verbal questions I chose wrong on purpose. I guessed on 1 and went ahead and took the other 2 after working them again. I did about the same with the Quant repeats. I was just trying to not throw the score too much so I kind of mixed things up a little bit. Does anyone know of a work around when experiencing these repeats so as to not throw the score? Is there a way to avoid seeing repeats? I tried not to overuse this precious GMATPrep resource, but come on, we have to see if we have improved.

GMAT prep has limited number of questions so they are bound to repeat in the test. Officially you are supposed to use the test twice. It is programmed so there are no repeats for first two tests. My advice is not to use it frequently. First should be to identify your weaknesses and second one couple of weeks before the real test, to gauge your progress and see what to focus on before real GMAT. But you will need more tests so use challenges or Manhanttan or Princeton tests. So you can monitor your improvements or time management. As for GMAT prep, you can delete the log files and try another test but there is no guarantee you will not see questions repeated. Apologies if I sound rude.

Thanks for laying on the line. Yeah I knew there would be repeats. Ive studied for three months, 2 months solid, and have taken 10 CATs thus far (3 PR 490-520, 3 MGMAT 520-640 and GMATPrep 1&2 twice 530-640) I Started w/ PR. I have read other posts from people on this forum who have said they experienced little to no repeats and some who say that it is full of them. Hey I made it though 3 GMATPreps w/out many repeats, which is not bad, but the fourth time around was a disappointment with 10 in all. I just wanted to get as realistic of a test as possible because I test in 1 week.
GMAC should make 4 fresh tests. This way people can take 2 at the beginning and 2 at the end of their study. It is hard to determine weak areas with only 1 test at the beg and end. Also, I think as many do, the GMATPrep is about the only CAT out there that is realistic.
