Please provide explantion for the answer.

A triangle inscribed in a semi circle is a Right triangle. 
AC = diameter =2
BC=1
Using pythogarus theorem
AB=sqrt(3)
Use 1/2*base*height=area
=sqrt(3)/2
hence B

Any triangle created on half circle with diameter as one side will be right angle triangle.

So Diameter (2*1 = 2) is hypotenuse of triangle, BC = 1 is another side.
Using Pythagoras theorem;
AC^2 = AB^2 + BC^2
=> AB = Sqrt(3)

Area of Triangle = 1/2 * bh = 1/2 *sqrt(3) * 1 = Sqrt(3)/2

Answer B.

Thanks guys, that's how I solved it too. I assumed the triangle was a right triangle but could not remember why that was the rule. Thanks
