How do you determine that it is a right angle?

If the product of slopes of two lines is -1, then they are perpendicular

Slope of PQ = -3/4

Slope of RP = 4/3

Thus they are perpendicular

Find slope by (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

Thanks, the answer is A. I totally missed out on hte rt triangle :oops:

it makes sense now.


Another way to solve this one is to extend four lines to the x and y axis and create four separate triangles. The total area of the rectangle is 28 (7*4)

Then subtract the areas from the three interior triangles. 28-15.5=12.5

(A)

Might not be the fastest way, but it works.
