Hi! I took the GMAT today and was not at all impressed with the results and became disappointed in myself. Before I give my score, let me give a brief journey into my GMAT journey.
Last summer in July I decided I wanted to apply to a program in which I would receive a MBA and a MEd. To apply to this program I would need to apply to the school of business and decided I would take the GMAT. Wow! I had a whole year to study and thought for sure I would be ready for the test. However, I was to being my first year of teaching in August.
I started teaching 4th grade in August and realized I would not have the time to study for the GMAT and settled on taking the test July 2014 so that I would have the summer to study. I thought I could start in May and be plenty ready by July. In May, I scheduled my test date and began studying. I took the practice exam and scored 530. I thought I should be able to increase my score by 150 points by July (I may have been a bit over ambitious). I don't think I took things seriously enough studying, I took a week long trip to Mexico, and my sister came to visit for 10 days. Needless to say, I was not putting in the effort necessary to raise my score 150 points.
I used the Kaplan GMAT Premier 2014 and completed each section. I did not take more practice tests, which I realize now was a mistake. I was feeling pretty confident and felt like I had learned a lot. However, I walked out today with my score of 560! Feeling disheartened I started doing some digging and searching online and came upon GMAT Club and am excited to try again!
I am looking forward to not only the advice, tips, and tricks I will learn here but also the encouragement and accountability!
Now I am trying to decided if I take the test again at the end of August or should I wait until the end of September? I will be teaching full time again this year and school starts August 12.
I am also wondering if I should get a tutor, take a live course, or take an online course?
Any thoughts, suggestions, or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!
