Hi rseglia,

Many Business Schools have publicly stated that they do not use an applicant's IR score when evaluating an application, so you likely have nothing to be concerned about. Most Schools expect you to be able to write a decently-organized essay in a short period of time (which shows your ability to communicate effectively with written words). As long as you score at least a 4.0 on the AWA, then you should be fine at most Programs. That all having been said, if you're interested in what a specific School/Program thinks about the IR and AWA scores, then you should research that School directly (you might also consider contacting the School to ask).

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hi rseglia,

Based on the 650 thresholds you mentioned, I think that with an overall of 690, you'll be fine. However, if you are overly concerned, reach out to the folks in admissions to see if you can get some clarity regarding your AWA and IR scores.
