Good score in GMAT verbal, but low AWA

Question

My GMAT is 730 (v40, q49), but my AWA is 4.0 (due to not paying much attention to it during test).

Should I retake to improve AWA? I have already applied to top-5 programs in R2, but I am worried that AWA may be a dealbreaker, and if so, will a better AWA now would help (I am confident it'll improve).

I'd hate for my AWA score to be the reason for my dings (as it is such a minor component of the whole app package)

You are AWA is low probably because you did not proofread enough. Anyway, I don't think any schools pay attention to it that much. I highly doubt that can be a deal breaker. At the end it is my humble opinion. Try to ask this question in the B-school consultant page.

A well written essay and a decent verbal score will probably more than make up for it.

No one cares about AWA as long as it's a 4 plus. You are more than fine.

My GMAT score was also a 730 (45V, 45Q) with a 4.0 AWA and it didn't seem to have an adverse effect on my applications.
