Got 620 after 3.5 months hard revision. Very :-(

Question

Hi all, 

Took the GMAT today and scored 620 (Q:39   and V:36 [80 percentile). I'm dissappointed. I need to get around the 700 mark.

I studied for 4 months and went through OG 10th edition - Each question twice. I also learnt the verbal and quant concepts sections from the Kaplan and PR books, although I didn't do many of the questions in these books.

I reviewed my mistakes and learnt alot from the process.

I took the folllowing CATs:

GMAT Prep 10+ times, 4 PR CATS, 4 Kaplan CATS, 2 Manhattan Review CATs, and 1 score.800 CAT. In the GMATPrep I initially scored around the 620 mark, but later upto 700 (I think this was because I had started to recognise the questions).

I'm now going to retake the exam in 5-6 weeks. 

As you can see maths in my weaker area - what should I do to improve it? Any suggestions. I now recognise most of the question in OG 10th. I'm also worried that I won't get accurate predictions of my GMAT score in practice exams as I recognise alot of question in them - esp. GMATPrep, PowerPrep and PR, which I think are the most representative.

I'm stuck - Any help would be really appreciated.

OG11 is out, and should have different questions! Also, you could pick up the Official GMAT Quantitative guide (basically extra questions).

The manhattan review books are good, they've got questions i haven't felt elsewhere. I also like the princeton review books, they're helpful too.

Take your time to analyze the problem types and/or math concepts that are the toughest for you. Just going through gazillions of questions without any analysis and adjustment is extremely inefficient.

I think it's better to have a low quant. score than a low verbal score.

If you're low on quantitative, you can work out on that, and hopefully succeed with a good preparation. The key is to practice questions a lot!

Make sure you do understand the fundamentals of DS, like a "no" answer in Y/N questions is in fact sufficient.

You seem to be good in verbal, rest is piece of cake for you, with sufficient work.

Yeah, quant is easier to work on by yourself by far.

PrepForTests.com's free  GMAT math tutorials  and  practice questions  will help you improve on the quantitative section.
