Hello All,
Finally gave my GMAT today and my first attempt fetched me a 660. Obiviously I need to put in more effort . I had promised to myself that whatever score I get I'll come and share my experience with all the members.
Married with a 4 year old , I have been studying for the last 2 months while being in a full time job but still I managed to put in around 2 to 3 hours on a daily basis.
Here are some of my mock test scores
Kaplan 1 540
Kaplan 2 590
Kaplan 3 550
GMAT prep 590
GMAT prep 700
GMAT prep 690
I found it dfficult to go from 47 in Quant to the magical 50 . And I 've seen my verbal scores deteriorate from 41 to 35 in the last weeks leading to the actual exam. One thing I did notice was that I was finding it difficult to spot errors in in SC and issues in CR in both the actual exam and prep while I was doing just fine doing the SC's in 1000 SC's averaging around 80%. It was my major concern and it got the best of me.
I have decided to go back and give it another try and see it I can do better or not.
On the test day , every thing was just fine (I could say perfect) and I have nothing to complain about other than my performance . The folks at the testing center were pretty nice and courteous.
Essays
Essays went just fine and I think I did OK. That infact pepped me up for the Quants.
Quantitative
Went just fine. I never felt that the questions were too difficult . But some of them were pretty tricky. But as a whole it went fine.
Verbal
Verbal started out with couple of SCs and I was struggling even with the simplest of SCs and some medium difficulty CRs and ended up spending around 40 mins for the first 21 questions . Realizing that I need to speed up I started to speed up. I was not getting enough time to prove to myself that I was indeed choosing the correct answers. But still foraged though some simple CRs and RCs to finish the exam with 1 minute to spare.
Now , I am back on the drawing table. I am planning to give the GMATs again. I know I can do it . Any comments how I could address my problem areas are welcome.
Thanks
