Hi, I found this forum somehow and thought maybe someone can help estimate my chances or give some advice out of experience.
Hi split2, so the 710 GMAT is good but depending on the school may not set you apart, the gpa is on lover side and your work experience is long- and at 33 you are at upper edge of most FT MBA students. In terms of how to put best spin on the firing... the longer ago it happened the better. What I would emphasize is what you learned from experience and how you are stronger now- and what you need to make sure is clear is why you need an mba if you are now doing your own work. What tools do you need to be more effective? what do you hope to do post MBA? these are the key questions to answer. Don't dwell too much on what happened in past- be positive and stick with how you have grown.
Lots of people who have been fired go on to get an MBA so don't let it think it will be a big blocker. Best wishes! In short:
I'm a male, 33 years old.
Got fired from my last work as an employee in a famous company and started my own business after. The reason I got fired is complicated to explain without making me sound weak - I kinda stopped functioning at work (as well as at home etc) after a traumatic life event that put me into some kind of depression.
My current business is doing ok to make a decent living but nothing beyond that so far, Still, I'm trying a new strategy at the moment to increase sales, time will tell.
I have a 710 gmat score and a gpa of 3.1, could be better but work during school did kill some of my grades. I volunteer at an institute taking care of women involved in family violence.
any kind of advice or thought will be highly appreciated
cheers
