Thanks for your reply. Well I understand what you say even though considering the corruption in Brazil I think my business is not considered a fail at all it's just not hiring 5 people yet but only me and one person.
I also believe my GMAT is a bit more than ok. But it's not giving enough Contra to the downs noted. I'm in I.T field.

What do you think I can do something to improve my resume significantly?
Take university courses with excellence? Improve my GMAT?

The thing you could improve right now is GMAT. You need to score 760+ to boost up your profile, if you want to have a chance at top 10.

GPA: You could make your GPA more impressive by showing your rank at your class, grade or your school. Although a GPA of 3.1 is lower than the average GPA of top 10 B-schools, your rank at 1st or top 5 at your school could really impressive.

Your experience: First, you need to try to explain well why you get fired without any negative tone but positive tone. Something relates to your goals, ie your own business. Think about the reason well to impress Admission Council or get rejected.
Next, you need to boost up your own business, and try to make some influence on society since every B-school now prefer Sustainable Development, especially any business that contribute to the environment and human development.

Finally, try to sharpen your life goal, which unifies everything in your life :-D

I could only have some ideas above. Hope those help you. Maybe need advice from experts :-D

Hi, I found this forum somehow and thought maybe someone can help estimate my chances or give some advice out of experience.

In short:
I'm a male, 33 years old.
Got fired from my last work as an employee in a famous company and started my own business after. The reason I got fired is complicated to explain without making me sound weak - I kinda stopped functioning at work (as well as at home etc) after a traumatic life event that put me into some kind of depression.
My current business is doing ok to make a decent living but nothing beyond that so far, Still, I'm trying a new strategy at the moment to increase sales, time will tell.
I have a 710 gmat score and a gpa of 3.1, could be better but work during school did kill some of my grades. I volunteer at an institute taking care of women involved in family violence.

any kind of advice or thought will be highly appreciated

cheers

Hey there,
And good to hear from you!

Now, I'd LOVE to help you out and get down with your profile.

The thing is I am missing detail.

I need a LOT more info from you - school name, employer name, titles, promotions, greatest achievements, volunteer work, sports, community service, religious involvement, leadership.. etc. before I can give you a real evaluation.

It will also be very helpful if you can elaborate upon your goals. And upon your business.

Getting fired isn't the end of the world. It happens to people. And most of those people go on to get jobs afterwards. So don't let that fact alone get to you.

Have a look at some of the other very detailed profile requests on this board and do something similar and I'll be happy to get back to you.

Best,
JF

I hope this helps! And feel free to drop us a line for a free consultation.
