Hey everyone,
I graduated from Medical School in Ireland (undergraduate program) a few years ago and I want to apply for an MBA at a top business school in the US. I wanted to know how do the top schools assess medical school graduates GPA? I graduated with 2:2 Second class honors degree. I was quite pleased with that result considering all the things I had to do during medical school. I am leaning more towards hospital management career wise and I have been involved in setting up a successful business since graduating. I understand the application process has many elements to it including GMAT(still need to do), etc... I am just concerned about my GPA score but I figure they take into consideration the type of undergraduate you did.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Hey there,
Good to hear from you!
Well overall B-schools LOVE folks from Med school. Why? Cause the pharma/biotech/med industries are always hiring highly skilled and trained people. And hospital management is a tough thing.
Of course it depends which medical school, and what you have done since, and what your plan is, and what business/managerial experience you have (if any).
Overall a low GPA, esp. in medical school wouldn't tank your application immediately.
So just work that GMAT to the bone. Because if you can do amazingly well on your GMAT... well then....
Best,
