I would do the double round up, first to 3.8, and then it all the way up to 4! Who is counting anyway?!

Just kidding, I would go with 3.76.

Wow, you guys are getting really OCD on this stuff.

I personally think two decimal places is a little too anal.

No one is going to say "That guy only had 3.76, not 3.8! Liar!!".

ok, maybe the difference will be a little more pronounced when rounding from a 2.96 to 3.0, but nonetheless, you don't want to run the remote possibility of raising any red flags, especially if they can verify your gpa straight from a transcript.

However its written on your transcript. So if it says 3.xx put that. I would not go past two decimals though.

Exactly what River said. What is says on your transcript is what you should put.

Agreed with 2 decimal places. It's fine to do 1 decimal place for jobs, but definitely not for a B-School app.

The most interesting rounding error in my opinion is when someone rounds a 3.96 up to a 4.0.

The schools are getting your transcripts anyways. If you round a 3.76 up to a 3.8, they'll still see a 3.76 on your transcripts.

It's not like they would have let you in with a 3.80 GPA, but not with a 3.76 GPA!

Hi All,

Hopefully someone will see this new post:

I have a 2.995... (annoying, I know). Looking at my unofficial online, there is no GPA calculated- I don't know if this will be different on the official? Is it appropriate to round to 3.0 in this situation? I'm just SO close.

So just to clarify - you think I should list it as 2.995? You said you use two decimal places, but then said to use it to the 5.

Thanks for your input!

I would round to the GPA being X.XX. Whatever that rounds to is what I would use. So for 2.995 I would round of to 3.00 and I would leave 3.76 at that. This is mainly because the applications themselves give the scale out of 4.00 alluding to the fact they want the precision to the hundredths place.

My gpa is 3.54... can I round that to 4, using zero decimal places?
