Hey guys, I have taken the GMAT thrice with scores 640 (Q-48, V-31), 650 (Q-49, V-30) and 590 (Q-46, V-27). I think that I have my fundamentals clear but I just can't perform up to my potential on the real test. My official mock scores have been from 680 to 720.
I have exhausted all official material and all official free and paid tests for GMAT. The only official source left is the paid question bank from GMAC. I have a fairly good idea about the structure and questions of GMAT.
However, considering that I am failing repeatedly on GMAT and that I have exploited almost all official material, should I go for the GRE route or should I retake the GMAT? Is there any advantage of knowing the stuff tested on GMAT if I prepare for GRE?

First off, a 650/Q49 is a solid Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, another retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) On what dates did you take your 3 Official GMATs?
2) How long did you study before each attempt? For your most recent attempt, how many hours did you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used over the course of all of your studies? Have you used all 6 Official practice CATs (and did you take any of them more than once?)? Have you used any other 'brands' of practice CATs?
Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
If you're interested in taking a free practice GRE, then you can certainly do so (you can access 2 for free from www.gre.org). You might consider working through some practice questions before taking that first practice GRE though.
