For those following this threads and experiencing same dilemna.

I called these 3 unis and Berkeley on top, some of same do not care about test being GMAT or GRE but suggest GRE as it gives them a better set of info to compare applications. Also Columbia only accepts GRE...
I retook a cold GRE tonight, scored V148 and Q166. I wonder whether there is some leniency about V for intl students!
My goal is V155-160 and Q170, and no more than 3 months! Pity that Greprepclub.com did not develop the way gmatclub did!

Hi twixt,

Now that you know which Test you'll be working on, you can plan out the next couple of months (for what it's worth, You probably won't need 3 months to prep for the GRE). Have you considered how you want to study (a class, books, Guided self-study, etc.)?

Hello Rich,

I hope you are doing well.
I just bought ETS set of books (OG + additional verbal and quant reasoning books).
I understood from comments here and there that these new 300 question set was closer to real test difficulty.
A friend of mine gave me his multiple books of Manhattan GRE (bit old, 2nd edition, but I guess it can not hurt) plus a print out of Nova quant, guessing it should be enough.
Once studying for GMAT I think I made this mistake to overprep with too much heterogeneous material : Kaplan, OG, Princeton, GmatClub and many many more.
What I noticed is that having had some private coaching sessions for gmat verbal, it helped me to move to the next step though it never translated into the 750 score I was targetting.
Thus in terms of methodology I was thinking about working on my own for lets say 6 to 8 weeks to better identify my weaknesses and also learning additional vocabulary.
Then maybe going for a Magoosh type of prep over a month and see where I am after these 3 months.

Hi twixt,

I think that self-studying for a bit of time is probably a good idea; there will certainly be aspects of the GRE that you'll be able to figure out on your own (and certain aspects of GRE Verbal will match work that you did for GMAT Verbal). I wouldn't suggest doing that for more than a month though, so you should proceed as you see fit for the next 4 weeks or so and then take a FULL practice MST so we can gauge your progress. From there, we can determine if a Course, tutor, etc. is necessary.
