I have been preparing for GRE since 1 year.. Can i write GMAT if i had prepared for GRE.. ? I am new to GMAT stuff.. will i need any extra preparation for attempting GMAT

Yes, the two are certainly different. They may both test your Math and English but the way they test is quite different (of course some concepts are useful for both tests). Get the Official Guide 13th Ed and find out the type of questions GMAT gives you (or to get an idea right away, just check out the Quant and Verbal forums here).
