Still no invite for me. I did find out something that gives me a little hope. According to the reports on Admission411.com, 130/171 R1 applicants were interviewed. So far, only 46/166 R2 applicants have reported interviews.

Now, I know the numbers are skewed, and that there's no way that they interviewed 76% of the applicants in the first round. The percentages are surely weird because of reporting dynamics for Admissions411, but assuming relatively similar rates of reporting for R1 and R2 suggests that there are lots of interview invites still to come for R2; maybe as much 2/3 still to go. There seems to be an amazing amount of similarity between R1 & R2 applicants reporting. The median GMAT is 730 for both rounds, while the mean is 725 for R1 and 727 for R2.

Also, it seems that they interviewed the vast majority of R1 applicants that scored 760+ on the GMAT. They have only invited 2/18 R2 applicants scoring 770-780. At least I can hope.

I just received my invite to interview. My application went Complete on the last day (I think the 30th) so definitely don't loss hope. While GSB is probably my 3rd choice behind Kellogg and Ross, I'm glad I got an invite and will be able to interview with all four of my schools (UNC is my fourth) and it makes me more confident that I will at least get into UNC.

I really doubted I would get an invite considering I challenged Friedman and the school a bit in my essays(in respect to a lack of classes in sustainable business practices) and talked about religion and my interest in swing and hip-hop dancing. I just sort went a bit crazy and I guess it at least caught their attention.

Don't lose hope those left waiting for an invite. There is still plenty of time.

Pehilu, I am sure you will get an invite.. you have a stellar app.. but on the gmat scores.. I dont know if you can make anything out of the gmat scores from admissions411
have you ever considered the fact that only high scorers log onto admissions411 and update their data?

There is no doubt that the average GMAT scores from Admissions411.com are skewed higher. I think that the data is only valid when compared with other data on the site, and has no value in relation to actual scores, rates of admissions, etc.

I think it's amazing how similar the the scoring ranges are for R1 and R2 applicants, and also how similar the scoring ranges for Chicago & Wharton are; but I don't believe that any conclusions can be drawn about the actual applicant pools. I do think it would be logical to compare R1 & R2 numbers. I believe that they will interview similar percentages in R1 & R2; and this should be especially true because the application profiles in each round are so similar.

Why do all the UNKNOWN STATS get all the interviews?

incidentally, does any one know when the last day for invites are? I think somewhere they posted a date, where if you don't get an invite by then, you pretty much dinged?

I think it's getting close to that date for me...

Hey guys. I'm having trouble figuring out which day/time is best to interview. Would you recommend attending a class? Also, should I interview after the information session? Personally, I'd want to get it out of the way first so I can enjoy the rest of the day (lunch/tour/info session). Any thoughts? Thanks!

I'm not a GSB applicant, but I am a fan of interviewing later in the day. I find that I learn more about the school and am in a better position to both craft my responses and come up with pertinent questions.

For what its worth, based on the experience of this board and the data published on Admissions411 it seems that the number of people admitted after an interview at GSB is significantly less than the 50% currently assumed. Thoughts?

heh. We are talking about a flight from Heathrow here, when I know at least one alumni twenty-odd floors from my desk. So, we will see.

If I do fly to Chicago, it is all part of a game plan.

As it is, I just want to be able to sleep. It's near midnight, and that damn school has ruined my chances of even six hours decent kip.

Cheers rhyme & lhotseface. I'd be a liar if I said anything other than that I had given up on them, and was placing my hopes on at least one other school where I did a better application (I think). But, well, Chicago has decided to put itself back in the game.

Worst is that I now know that they will torment me till March 28 now. I had grown quite acustomed to burying this all by mid-february.

Well tomorrow morning I will brave the roads and take the normal 3 hr drive to Chicago. While half of me is ticked about this Midwest/Northeast storm, I hope that it works in my favor when I come rolling in as one of the only interviews of the day. I'll then talk about how I saved 2 truckers lives on my way in from Michigan and also recreated their business plan for widgets. Regardless, I'm gonna play up the snow storm and the fact that I'm still coming to the interview.
