Hi...

I am a prospective applicant for the 2011 B School intakes

Unfortunately or Fortunately (not too sure now !!) i come from the highly competitive Indian IT Pool.. But somehow i've managed to achieve more professional accolades than any of my my peers have been able to.. So until my GMAT .. I thought i had a fair chance to crack the Top 30 if not the Top 10 B schools.. But Alas..! Things were going to be a tad different that i had placed them..

A brief description of my profile..

Personal Details

DOB - 13/01/1985
Nationality - Indian

Professional Experience :

Close to 3 (4 years by Fall 2011) years of continuous Full Time work experience with a world renowned MNC in IT sector

Worked in the Telecom Vertical . Job activities involve Software Development/Consulting/Business Analysis for a European Telecom Giant.

Key Professoinal Achievements:
1 . Achieved Technical Certification for SOA ( Service Oriented Architecture)
2. One of the youngest Functional Area Representatives for CMMi Audit(Software Industry Process improvement approach/Standard defining body ) for the organization
3. A member on the Interview Panel for conducting technical interviews for inducting new members in the team
4. A member on the review team , for ensuring adherence to global standards for software development
5. Received the best employee rating for the year 2009 , among the top 10% employees

Extracurriculars:
1. Event organization for Company's Annual Festival
2. A member of the 15 member Cricket team for Company specific Cricket Tournament


Undergraduate Record

CGPA of 7.04 on a scale of 10 from a well recognized Private University in India .

Key Activities
1.Occasional participations in Cultural Activities during annual College festivals.
2. Developed a Desktop Search Engine on latest industry standards

Internship

3 Months full time internship at a Financial Solutions MNC.

Social Work

Key activities:
1. Participation in awareness campaigns about HIV/AIDS in Rural Areas
2. Participation in Blood Donation awareness camps for Thalasimic(Lukemia) Patients
3. Participation in Opium Deaddiction camps
4. Participation in Camps for creating awareness about Healthy Lifestyle and Hygiene in rural areas
5. Participation in Nature and Wildlife awareness camps in urban areas

GMAT Score
610 (Quantitative - 42 , Verbal - 32 )
AWA Score - 6.0

Schools i was aiming at..
NUS , NTU Singapore
Manchester , Lancaster , Imperial UK
RSM Erasmus , Essec

Now obviously from what i've heard and read , with such a GMAT score and such universities..Its hoping against hopes.. even with the best of essays and recommendations.. This seems to be an unlikely achievement..

Meanwhile retaking GMAT is going to be a pain in itself with Fulltime work experience and that too a demanding one..

So i would like a final opinion on such a profile from Fellow B School aspirants or Experts before i take the painful "Retake" decision... Any words of advice would be highly appreciated..
