Hi pasale,

Thank you for your post, and congrats on your admit to HKS. Given your background and goals, I recommend re-applying. What is your GRE score? I do not recommend using this time to relearn another type of test; instead, retake the GRE if your score can be improved. Additionally, evaluate your profile, and identify areas that can be strengthened, so next year's application is strong and well-rounded.

I applied to Wharton, Tuck and HKS in hopes of getting into the MBA/MPP program. However, I was dinged at both Wharton (without interview) and Tuck (adcom initiated interview). I have an admit for the MPP at HKS (no scholarships offered). My goal is to go into development consulting (either with MBB or niche firms like dalberg, bridgespan). Plan B would have been finance (IB or corp) to payback the heavy debt. I am an international with a non traditional background (2 years entrepreneurship and 1 year local development sector), so my options post MBA will be limited and to companies sponsoring visas.

Should I wait a year more and give GMAT (used my GRE this time) and reapply to t15 bschools for the next cycle? I have 3 years work exp at matriculation now, and at next cycle it would be 4. Most importantly, I am debating whether the debt from HKS is worth it. Other option would be to give GMAT, go to HKS and apply/reapply to institutions that has concurrent degrees with HKS. What do you all think?

Hi pasale,

Typically b-schools do not take preference between GMAT/GRE, so long as your scores are comparable. Your score is close to the average of target schools. I would take this time to evaluate your profile holistically, and see how you can improve between now and application season (I recommend you target R1). You might find this article useful.

I have a 323 on my GRE: 160V 163Q 4.0W. I gave it more than a year ago. I will be studying 2-3 months, so I thought going for GMAT might help me gain admissions. I am thinking about dropping HKS and will pursue other t15s as well.
