I wonder if returning investment bankers have found getting an MBA helpful in terms of career progression? Would greatly appreciate it if an INSEAD alumnus could share their experience.

I always got the impression that it helps on the IB side (where there is often some distinction drawn between a promoted associate analyst and an MBA associate). Outside of that, except perhaps research, it doesn't really matter in the the slightest.

Not that I has seen, unless an MBA is how you get to banking in the first place... The promo structure is pretty set, if you take 2 years off u will not gain anything, in fact you will lose position relative to your peers.

if you're already in IB, recruiting for IB will obviously be a lot easier, given prior experience and theoretically being well-versed in what responses they're looking for. honestly though, unless this is the only way you can jump from a boutique firm or middle market firm to a bulge bracket, why?? i agree with the comment that it's sort of a waste of two years and foregone income if you're just going to stay in the same field. you're still going to start as a first-year associate and have the same promotion-track as everyone else.
