Hastily rebuilt after the Korean War, Seoul is shedding its once‐gritty image to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises.

A. Hastily rebuilt after the Korean War, Seoul is shedding its once‐gritty image to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises.

B. Hastily rebuilt since the Korean War, Seoul shed its once‐gritty image for becoming one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises.

C. Hastily rebuilt after the Korean War, Seoul‘s once‐gritty image is being shed so as to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises.

D. Having been hastily rebuilt after the Korean War, Seoul has been shedding its once‐gritty image and it is going to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises.

E. Hastily rebuilt after the Korean War, Seoul was shedding its once‐gritty image so as to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises.

"seoul" needs to come after the opening modifier.---->C out

Past tense and "for becoming" incorrect---->B out

"having been"+"has been"; use of 2 independent clauses doesnt bring the crispness that A brings --->D out

"was shedding"; past continuous needs another past action which disrupts the past continuous. This is not the case here. Furthr, "so as to become" is incorrect.---->E out

Answer: A

Is there any other error in D apart from wordiness/crispness.

What's wrong with D. As MGMAT ron states in one of his post:-
Quote:
Having + past participle is used to indicate an action that:

-- is completed before the primary action attributed to the modified noun
-- provides context for the primary action attributed to the modified noun

For example:

Having enjoyed the book, John cannot wait to see the movie.

In the sentence above:
Having enjoyed refers to John.
Cannot wait is the primary action attributed to the modified noun John.
Having enjoyed was completed in the past; John cannot wait in the present.
Having enjoyed the book explains why John cannot wait

Seoul has been shedding its once‐gritty image and it is going to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises. The ideas "Seoul has been shedding its gritty image' and "it is going to become one of Asia's ... metropolises" are presented separately. Is that the issue ?

A. Hastily rebuilt after the Korean War, Seoul is shedding its once‐gritty image to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises. --- Correct Choice.
B. Hastily rebuilt since the Korean War, Seoul shed its once‐gritty image for becoming one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises. ---- Use of past tense for an on-going phenomenon is improper.
C. Hastily rebuilt after the Korean War, Seoul‘s once‐gritty image is being shed so as to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises. --- Seoul’s image is a wrong modification.
D. Having been hastily rebuilt after the Korean War, Seoul has been shedding its once‐gritty image and it is going to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises –. By declaring that it is going to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises changes the original meaning
E. Hastily rebuilt after the Korean War, Seoul was shedding its once‐gritty image so as to become one of Asia‘s most glittering metropolises -- was shedding is wrong tense
