Have improved from 430 to 610 in 8 weeks. but need 700+

Hello!

I am a non native speaker and need at least a 700+ score so I have been working my butt off to get the GMAT right. 
I have started on the first of June taking verbal and quant training here is Moscow. and the GMAtPrep, to know where I am.

I have been really struggling with verbal part fro two months, spending all my time including weekends on the GMAT. And it seems to pay off. I did a GmatPrep today and found that I have a 48 in Q and 27 in Verbal which totals in 610 score!

So I have a question!

Is it possible that having 48 in Q did not seem hard. I made 16 mistakes, most of them were in the end (8 out of last 10 wrong, bad timing) Only one questions seemed hard! 2 out of first 10 wrong (#6 and #10)

And how come that in Verbal I also had 16 mistakes, but the score was 27 (3 out of first 10 wrong (#1#3#7 or 8)

So the questions is how to best spend the last days of preparation. I have already done the OG and GmatPlus, and my training company’s compilations of hard questions from ManhhGmat and Barrons and other sources.

And is the GmatPrep result really trustworthy. As it really seems that the last 15 questions does not really matter. How is it with real Gmat, how may mistakes you can have in each section to score 700+

I really need this score and I am putting every effort I have to succeed.

Any even crazy advises welcome!

It is possible to have 16 questions wrong and get a 48. I had 12 wrong and a 50Q during some practice. So you should feel very confident in your quant!

What was ur breakdown in CR RC and SC in verbals ?

5 SC, 6 CR, 5 RC!

I am working hard with SC, there only practice and learning rules works,
But how to best improve CR? Have worked through ManhhGmat, that helps!!

I had 20 wrong and my V score was 26. Lost a lot on SC. My analysis was ... i was missing out on the easy ones..so that brought my score down and never really got to the difficult ones which might have bumped up my score (had i got them right)

For CR i would recommend Powerscore bible and OG 11/12. I have surely improved on my CR after going through the bible.

Given your very high quant score, I think if you can pull your verbal score up to 38-40, you'd be set.

Unfortunately, I noticed that verbal is what cuts down the scores of most people. From what I can tell, there is VERY LITTLE room for error on the verbal if you want a score higher than 40. I remember that on the GMATprep I missed only 5 questions (starting with #9), none within 5 questions of each other, and my score all the way to a 42.

I concur with the last poster,  the Powerscore CR Bible is by far  THE BEST  study guide for CR questions . It does not give a lot of sample questions (less than 40 in the whole book), but its detailed (but easily understood) descriptions of the types of CR questions and the correct approaches to these questions are second to none. Once you go through the CR bible, I would suggest downloading the 1000CR series that circulates online (& on this forum) then going through as many as you can.

I have an exam on the 17 of August. I also have taken a vacation at work 2 weeks priot to that. And even before this vacation I've been spending 3-4+ hours a days for two months (inc weekends).

So any advice to dig this thing welcome!!!!

I am up to the 700+ score!!!!

Everyone has different study habits that works for different people. I am told that it is not good to study too much on the day before the test, & I didn't. However, 2-4 days prior to the test, I did some intensive GMAT practice sessions (2-3 sets of Q & V in a roll each day for 2-3 days) to build my mental endurance; of course, this is not the only thing I did to prep for the GMAT, it is just in addition to my normal prep routine. For me, this little endurance building exercise was somewhat helpful, I didn't feel mentally exhausted at all during the verbal section (of course, that was also because of the adrenaline).

My next focus is my Russian oral proficiency interview 18-го Августа. Надеюсь, что я смогу говорить по-русски лучше, чем Равшан и Джумшут...

I just did ManhGmat online 1 CAt test and scored 710!

I just wonder am I lucky or what!

Because the review shows that I have a lot of mistakes and can this result be trusted!!!

I have 11 more days to o till the X day!!!

Need the 700+ score!!!!

Hi i am also struggling in verbal section

can you please help???

i am not bad at accuracy if i am provided with the privelege to spend 2.4 mins on each question.

However in timed mode, i get 2 mins but even then my accuracy falls badly.

Great job on the 700, but take note that while Manhattan GMAT is tough in quant, people who take the MGCATs usually score higher in verbal then they would in the actual GMAT. (verbal seems easier mainly not because of questions, but due to scoring algo). Try Knewton, their quant algo is completely screwy apparently but I've heard good things about their verbal (haven't taken it myself but read other reviewers opinions). They have a free diagnostic online.

Don't waste it just blindly taking it though. Use it as a gauge and work on your RC/SC/CR before taking it. Also, don't take 1 of the GMATprep cats until closer to the exam date when you want a realistic indicator of your level just pre-test.
