Hi All,
I'm planning to apply to the HBS 2+2 Program in this year's application cycle (Probable Deadline: April 2022). I wanted to get my profile evaluation done in order to decide on my next steps.
Demographic: Indian Male
GMAT: 740 (V40, Q50, IR-5, and AWA-6)
To give you a brief description of myself: I am a final year student of Economics (GPA: 9.53/10; Class Rank: 5/56) at St Stephen's College. I'm currently working as a Corporate Strategy and Finance Intern at Urban Company (a 2.1 Billion $ Tech unicorn in India). I'm working with the company's senior management to formulate strategies that would help the company to go public (IPO) by 2022; I've worked on a wide variety of issues such as Corporate Governance Requirements (Board of Directors Composition), Regulatory Fillings, Valuations and Other Strategies that go into the IPO. Prior to this stint, I worked at a MicroVC Fund- Artha Venture Fund, based in Mumbai where I worked as an Investment Intern with their Deal Origination Team. I've also worked at a leading NBFC (L&T) as an Equity Research Intern, and at a Mid Tier Investment Banking firm as an IB intern where I worked on Private Equity, M&A, and Debt Issuance Deals. I am actively involved in Clubs and Societies at my college, I am currently the Founder and Chairman of a Chapter of an International Finance Club (established in Harvard, CBS etc) at my college. I've worked extensively with other chapters of the Club in Europe and Latin America through this network on academic and consulting projects. I have also won several prestigious international competitions including the Duff and Phelps YOUniversity Deal Challenge, Global Valuation Olympiad, London, and the CFI Financial Modelling Competition. I recently gave my GMAT and I got a 740 in my first attempt.
Prior to my MBA, I'm looking to work in one of the top Strategy Consulting Firms in India. I'm also passionate about Social Impact and I have been spearheading an initiative to raise awareness on Menstrual Hygiene in Rural Parts of India. I've participated in numerous public speaking competitions and won awards at each, including the prestigious Harvard Model UN.
I am aware that the Indian Male Category is super competitive at HBS and I'm a little skeptical of applying for the same reason.
What do you guys think I can do better? Should I retake my GMAT (since I do have time) or should I get started with my application process? Also, it would be great if you could suggest any other deferred MBA programs where you think I would have a strong shot at, if not HBS.
