Is it because they are planning on inviting more people for an interview?

Welcome to application madness, which includes, among other things, endless speculation and conspiracy theories.

The official reply to your questions can be found here:

https://www.businessweek.com/bschools/co ... han=search

The actual reply could either be the official one or another one which you'll never know.

Hope it helps. L.

I find interesting that they've added the culture shock and global issue option...

the culture shock essay is also on Insead's app for this year...

I'd love to write those essays, especially #5. If only my GMAT score would have been 10% higher

Well, you can always re-take the exam.
With practice and hard-work, there is always a possibility to score higher.

Possible, yes. Unlikely, most probable. Given my 5000+ posts, dozens and dozens of practice exams, a Kaplan Course and four official attempts; in all honesty, I'm finished with this test. Trust me, if I realistically thought I had even a remote shot at a school like HBS I would have kept trying.
