The deadlines are creeping up fast: September 4th, 2024, for round one and January 6th, 2025, for round two.
So, what are these new essays all about? They're like a deep dive into your amazing self. They want to hear about your career aspirations, your leadership style and how you're constantly learning and growing. Each essay has a word limit, so keep it tight and impactful.
1. Business-Minded Essay (300 words): This essay should reflect on how your experiences have influenced your career choices and aspirations and the impact you will have on the businesses, organizations, and communities you plan to serve.
a. Provide specific examples that demonstrate your business acumen and understanding of the industry you wish to enter.
b. Articulate your desired impact, focusing on how you’ll contribute value to businesses, organizations, and communities.
c. Maintain a concise and focused approach within the word limit.
2. Leadership-Focused Essay (250 words):This essay should demonstrate what experiences have shaped who you are, how you invest in others, and what kind of leader you want to become?
a. Choose a powerful story that exemplifies your leadership qualities.
b. Focus on how you empower and support others, fostering growth within your team or community.
c. Showcase your self-awareness by demonstrating how past experiences have shaped your leadership style.
3. Growth-Oriented Essay (250 words): Curiosity can be seen in many ways. In this essay, share an example of how you have demonstrated curiosity and how that has influenced your growth.
a. Choose an impactful example showcasing your inquisitive nature.
b. Explain how your curiosity led you to explore new avenues, overcome challenges, or acquire valuable knowledge.
c. Connect this growth mindset to your future goals and aspirations.
Here's how to craft those winning essays:
1. Laser focus: Show, don't tell! Use specific examples and captivating stories to paint a picture of your strengths.
2. Connect the dots: Demonstrate how your background, goals, and leadership style perfectly match Harvard Business School's vibe.
3. Be your own guru: Reflect on your experiences and what they've taught you. Let your unique voice and growth shine through!
