Hi everyone I’m new here so I hope this is the right forum’s section. Do u think I have any chance getting into HEC Paris (for the International Finance Master or the Economics and Finance program? My profile:
24 yrs, Chinese but based in Spain, I’m currently working in a consulting company and have almost 2 years of experience. I also have a internaship experience and have had volunteered several summers.
GPA 8,44/10 using Spanish grading system. Also had an Erasmus experience in Warwick Business School for 6 months.
GMAT 640...
My biggest pain is the GMAT score. I have been studying for it by my own and while working for 3-4 months now but my performance in the exam is not excellent.
Please tell what you think and if u have any other suggestions regarding universities where I could apply.
Thank you
Hello and welcome to the forum! It's great that you're considering HEC Paris for your graduate studies in finance. Based on your profile, you do have some strengths that could make you a competitive applicant, such as your work experience, Erasmus experience at Warwick Business School, and GPA. However, your GMAT score of 640 is lower than the average score for HEC Paris' International Finance Master and Economics and Finance programs, which is around 700.

That being said, your GMAT score is just one aspect of your application, and HEC Paris also considers other factors such as your work experience, academic background, and personal statement. Therefore, it's still possible to get accepted with a lower GMAT score, especially if you can demonstrate your potential in other areas.

If you're concerned about your GMAT score, you could consider retaking the exam to see if you can improve your score. You could also consider applying to other universities that have lower GMAT requirements or that place less emphasis on the GMAT score. Some universities in Europe that offer finance programs include:

* ESSEC Business School (France)
* Bocconi University (Italy)
* University of St. Gallen (Switzerland)
* IE Business School (Spain)
* Rotterdam School of Management (Netherlands)

When applying to these universities, make sure to research their admission requirements and deadlines, and tailor your application to highlight your strengths and potential contributions to the program. Good luck with your application process!
