LSE and LBS should have London cornered 😎

I agree with the suggestions, usually it’s easier to recruit in the country and city where you intend to work. I didn’t see much reason to leave London only to come back there. But the same time, there’s probably more HEC alums in London than LBS alums in Paris…

PS. I would also think and look at your personal competitive advantages and reasons why you would be chosen versus your classmates…

HEC MIF vs LBS MFA [#permalink]
Take a look into the curriculum, class profile, and Professors as well. From a cursory look at the curriculum, HEC Paris’s MiF does seem a bit more intense and specialised of the two.

LBS’s MFA to me seems a bit like level 1 (and level 2) of the CFA curriculum.

Re: HEC MIF vs LBS MFA [#permalink]
Hi all,

Thanks so so much for your replies, I can’t stress how much I appreciate your views at this time.

A few more details. Yes, LBS’s scholarship is substantial (50% of fees), but because I already paid a deposit at HEC and costs of living in London are much higher, HEC remains cheaper without scholarship by about 5-6K, which as mentioned is not a differentiator considering the salaries out of those masters. Before the scholarship it was 25K différence, and that is why I went for HEC and paid the deposit because I didn’t see much of a difference between the programs.

Now I think getting a master a bit more specialized would be good, I already have CFA L1 and taking L2 in May. I currently work in one of the top 3 asset management firms as a grad and would have 2 years of experience by the time I start the master. Overall, I do have some experience and knowledge and would like to deepen it more.

Yet to me the most important aspect is getting a job in PE. Ideally in London, but I am ok with Paris too (if I have a competitive advantage there as you mentioned because I speak French which most of LBS or HEC MIF graduates do not). Now, in France there is a culture for recruiting out of the grande école programme which is the generalist master where they often did the classe préparatoire, and I fear this might be a problem, but hopefully not.

I was wondering if in your opinion, LSE is enough to open me the doors in London, and HEC would be a bonus. Or you think LBS is needed to do so ?

My rational was that LSE is enough for London and HEC definitely will help me more than LBS in Paris. So I was winning going to HEC.

Anyway, thanks so much for your views, much appreciated!

Best.
