Hi
Umg92Congrats for both school acceptance !
HEC Paris school has graduated more CEOs of Fortune Global 500 companies than any other university in Europe. HEC has very strong focus on entrepreneurship, 25 percent of HEC MBA students go on to start their own businesses, and our faculty support the creation of nearly 400 entrepreneurial projects each year.
If you want to possibly change a career HEC Paris MBA would be good fit for transformation. HEC is proud that they have proven record of their students succeed in changing their career paths, whether it is by sector, function or location. Almost 70 percent of HEC's 2016 graduates changed at least two of these three elements, while 37 percent changed all three aspects of their career.
HEC has also 90 percent international student body, that enriches the overall experience of program and living, preparing you to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, if you particularly like that should shoot for HEC.
HEC Paris MBA, has 16-month program and size of the cohort deliberately limited to 250 students.
By Financial Times HEC MBA is ranked at 21 place.
Regarding salary you can expect on average 135,858 US$ and salary percentage increase of 105% compared to pre-MBA.
According to Forbes HEC Job Placement by Function is:
Consulting
26%
Finance/Accounting
17%
Operations/Logistics
17%
General Management
14%
Marketing/Sales
11%
Other
15%
Also, total 5-year HEC MBA gain would be $85,300, Pre-MBA Salary on average $64,000, starting salary for 2016 year $150,000, so years to payback ratio is 3.3.
Here on GMAT club ranked by students USC Marshall is on 25. place versus HEC on 29.
Furthermore, this year 2018, Marshall ranked No. 20 by U.S. News and No. 25 by Bloomberg BusinessWeek magazine.
After graduating from Marshall you can expect on average salary 137,960 US$ and salary percentage increase of 95% from pre-MBA period.
Also, don't forget to consider living in LA versus Paris in terms of culture cost of living etc.
L.A. is becoming nationally important tech hub. Successful apps like Tinder and Snapchat have chosen to headquarter in “Silicon Beach” instead of Silicon Valley, and investors are following the talent, meaning if you are in tech you should def go to Marshall. You will be exposed to tech industry in Cali and that would beneficial for recruiting after MBA.
Moreover, Los Angeles is the iconic home of the entertainment industry, as well as the birthplace of the modern aerospace industry, and primary economic and trade gateway to the Pacific region, so keep in mind that also for job prospects.
Bottom line HEC is better ranked in general, but if you want to work (and live) in US, for 3-4, years before you come back to India maybe USC Marshall is more familiar to US employers.
If you rather work in EU than HEC is definitely better choice, in my opinion.
Below you will find both schools compared via Economist tool, but keep in mind that Economist is traditionally little biased toward European schools vs. American.
Hope this would help you to decide, whatever you choose you will be just fine !
