Hey everyone, I would love your input on this puzzle I’m faced with!I’ve been admitted into INSEAD’s MIM and HEC-TUM Master in Mgmt & Innovation.
Both are great schools, with dual campus opportunities.
I have a good scholarship at INSEAD, so at the end of the day, the tuition fee for both programs is identical.
The key differences are:
- INSEAD is 1 year vs HEC-TUM is 2 (double the living expense)
- INSEAD seems more practical and fluid as a course whereas HEC-TUM seems quite academic (I'm a good student but enjoy dynamic activities and teaching methods)
- INSEAD has a friendlier student experience compared to the other ( much much more international).
- INSEAD has a more global name (correct me if I’m wrong?)
- The INSEAD program is much newer than HEC-TUM - so for the MIM we don't have much data to back this decision (and quite frankly, the placements haven't been too impressive for my demographic till now).
… and some others.
About me:- I am an Indian female, 24, born & raised in India.
- Lived in France for 6+ years, and worked in France in Marketing.
- Speak French at a B1-B2 level.
- I hold a French bachelor’s degree and applied for my Master’s degree in R3 for the upcoming intake.
I am very open-minded about where I want to end up. But I know money is important, so I guess strategy/consulting/GAFAM would be a great place to start.
Pros of HEC-TUM imo:I am very confused which one to pick because I have an interest in tech and innovation, so the TUM part seems super interesting. Also, the HEC MIM is iconic!
Also, I know how stubborn the french job market is (and how partial towards natives it is)
So seeing that TUM gradutes are more or less ensured jobs in the German ecoysytem (consulting, scale-ups etc) is promising!
Pros of INSEAD:
- 1 year, quick course - what I think I’ll prefer.
- Strong brand name and alumni network.
- The Asian leg in Singapore could prove extremely valuable after my long stint in France (EU).
- Professors & admin seem more involved and friendlier.
- The campus is much more vibrant than HEC.
Any tips to help me choose? Would love to hear from students who’ve done the program too.
