I feel completely overwhelmed by this whole process. I haven't taken a math class in 7+ years, and it was never my strong point. Neither was English.. I am more a creative. I want to take the GMAT before the new section appears. I took a practice GMAT test and quit after 8 questions, none of which I answered correctly. I have
MGMAT along with the
OG 12. Are these books going to be enough to get me a 680+ when I am really lacking in the knowledge category?
Wow, It's like looking at a mirror of me in 2011.
Vixen - I feel you. It is overwhelming and it can easily make you feel so down. I too haven't taken a math class in 7+ years and was never strong in quant. I am not even a native English speaker. I went to music school and didn't even take high school math. I was pathetic in both quant and verbal.
With first 2 months of studying, my first GMAT score was 500. I stared at the score in my car for half an hour in disbelief. Thought it was over. Got super depressed and didn't sleep for days. But I didn't give up - that wasn't part of my options so I buckled up and gave my shot again in 10 weeks with a solid study plan. Finally I was able to ended up with a decent score of 690.
I don't really know much about your background, but if I can increase my score from 500 to 690 in 10 weeks, I think so can you - actually, you may even do better than I did.
Getting into your question -
OG 12 and
MGMAT will help you. HOWEVER, don't even open
OG 12 until you get your basics and fundamentals covered. It will be a waste of time doing or repeating the questions on
OG - save them for later. I am assuming you have signed up for
MGMAT class so I'll also assume that you got your 8
MGMAT workbooks. Make them your best friend until your test day. They'll be really useful.
Before you do anything - go ahead and download the official GMAT Prep software and test yourself again. Don't stop, Don't quit. Finish it no matter how stupid it makes you feel. Look at the scores, WRITE THEM DOWN (it won't save your scores) then you can go from there.
Again, I know it's overwhelming - but if you prepare yourself well with a solid plan and the right mindset, you can definitely achieve your goal. Good luck, and feel free to PM me if you have any questions
