Thanks for the reply. I want to have the most competitive app I can have and I know having a 700+ will be much better for me. I'm looking to applying to the top 15 schools only, with a few of the top 5 as my ideal options.

1 - first test was on 11/26 and I got a 660: Q46/V35
2 - for my second attempt I studied up to 16 hours a week with usually 2 hours of studying on weekdays after work, and 4 hours on weekends.
3 - Practice test days and scores are as follows:
11/15 - 600: Q46/V27 (very low V score because I was thrown off by getting 3 Reading passages in a row to start off the test)
11/22 - 690: Q46/V39
11/26 - real exam
got back to studying for a few months then did another round of mocks as follows:
1/17: 690 Q48/V35
1/19: 720 Q49/V40 (this was 1 of the 2 free GMAC tests that I restarted...so a few questions were similar and the score is inflated)
1/31: 730 Q49/V41 (second of the 2 free restarted GMAC tests...also inflated)
2/1: 680 Q43/V41 (lower Q score than expected - made a lot of silly mistakes due to this being the second consecutive day of taking a mock)

4 - I was originally planning on applying to B schools this coming Fall, but I may have to push it back another year because I want to work on getting a better score and also want to start volunteering so I don't think I can do both of those things all before this Fall. But this depends on what I materially need to work on to get to the 700+ level. Maybe I am closer than I think. As stated earlier, I'm looking to applying to the top 15 schools only, with a few of the top 5 as my ideal options. Haven't done much research yet on each program, but I know most of these school's median score is in the 720-730 range.

Hi ohyeahitsyash,

First off, I realize that you have yet to hit your score goal, but 660 is still a solid GMAT score. Regarding your ESR, I know that you want to craft a master plan based on the provided data; however, you need to make sure that you avoid falling into the trap of focusing on micro-details based on that report, and thus misdiagnosing your weaknesses. Since your ESR is based on only 31 quant questions and 36 verbal questions (a very small sample size), it may not give you a complete picture of what to focus on going forward. For example, does your scoring 75% in Value/Order/Factors mean that you are devoid of weakness in those topics? Not necessarily. Perhaps you were given many lower-level questions or had some lucky guesses on those topics. Furthermore, there is no way to know HOW MANY questions you were given from those topics, right?

A few things do seem clear. For one, your ESR seems to indicate that you are not strong in Rates/Ratios/Percent in quant and Critical Reasoning in verbal. So, by becoming super-strong in those areas, you likely would score a few points higher in both quant and verbal.

With all that said, I do think that you’ll have the most success if you cast a wide net and engage in topical practice, so you can methodically find your weak areas and make necessary improvements. By studying in this way, you’ll improve your skills one topic at a time and ensure no stone is left unturned.
