I applied to 7 schools in round 1, and am going to start round 2 applications in case I do not get into any of the schools I have applied to already.
My stats are (at matriculation):
25yr old white male, United States
760 GMAT, 3.7 GPA in Engineering @ public state school
3 yrs work experience (1.5 years internationally)
Goals: Short term: Product development & strategy in the tech industry
Long term: Tech startup
I have applied to:
Stanford (Denied without interview)
Harvard (Denied without interview)
Wharton (Denied without interview)
Sloan (Interview)
Haas (Nothing yet, probably ding)
Kellogg (Interview)
Columbia RD (nothing yet)
The schools I am considering applying to in round 2 are:
Tuck (I like the strong alumni network. Decent amount of students work in tech, with a lot in consulting which wouldn't be a bad backup plan)
Booth (Only other M7 school I haven't applied to. Strong entrepreneurial aspect)
UCLA (Close proximity to west coast tech companies)
Fuqua (Good connection with tech & consulting)
Ross (Ok % going into tech & consulting, good practical industry based education)
Yale (School on the up, ok amount in tech & consulting)
Stern (locaiton in NYC)
Texas (Better chance of getting in, proximity to Austin tech companies)
I really want to try to get this list down to 3-5, but am having a hard time. The main thing is that I already had my recommenders complete 7 recommendations. I would need them to do more for round 2 over the holiday season which I am worried is asking a lot.
