I got a full-tuition scholarhsip from a program (ranking 60th) in a small city. I also got an admission to Carnegie Mellon. I don't know if I should choose a free ride from the small program or take out $100,000 loan and go to Tepper. My concentration is finance and international business. Please help me decide. Thanks.

CMU. The little bit of money you'd save by going to a program ranked 70th (I didn't know you could find ranks beyond top 30... where do you look?) iis not going to outweigh the overall benefit of the CMU name. I'd also suggest you look at at average starting salaries out of each school - I'd suspect you'll find CMU's is likely substantially higher.

I've tried to guess who it is, and if I guessed right ... avg starting is $81K compared to $108K for CMU. No comparison.

I would go with CMU (for the employers), but again, I don't know about your goals and priorities. :-)

I know people here deciding between full ride at 18th ranked school v. 20k at a top 10. That seems like a much harder choice to me. 70th ranked program is just not near up there enough to vie for your attention v. CMU.

I vote for CMU
Better brand and hence attracts prospective employers in a better way

I am a Rd 2 applicant. was waiting on an interview invite till today.

I just got an interview request this morning. I cannot believe they are sending out interview requests so late. It says that they prefer to interview on-campus. Does anybody have any information on that ? if I schedule a telephonic or alumni interview would it be badly looked upon ? Because at this point of time, if the decisions are announced on Monday, I dont know how they expect me to travel and interview oncampus.

Anybody have any thoughts on that ??
