shilpibansal
Hi,
I am Shilpi Bansal
I have pursued my B.Tech in metallurgical engineering from National Institute of Technology, Raipur (Chhattisgarh).
After that worked as a process control analyst at JSW Steel Ltd for 3 years. My profile was more or less related to the combination of operations, analyst and quality control. Now I am planning to take GMAT in a couple of months. The constraint here is: I left my job in Sep 2017 and joined my father's family business.
Now my queries are:
How can I defend this gap in my career profile?
I am not clear about what MBA programs are good for me based on my past experience, and which B schools I should sort to apply for MBA??
Looking forward to hear from the admin. Please help me..
Hello
shilpibansal,
The best way to portray the gap would be to let the Admissions Committee know that you left your job with the motive of taking your family-run business forward and now you feel the need for an MBA to scale up the business even further. Of course, more details on the business and your role in the same would have helped guide our evaluation. However, for the purpose of the application, be prepared with all the necessary details. In reality, therefore, this shall not be a gap.
With regard to the schools you must target, a lot will depend on your GMAT score. There are a number of schools that are fine for those with entrepreneurial goals. However, the purpose of shortlisting becomes more meaningful with a score in hand. We suggest that you take the GMAT in July, post which, the schools could be shortlisted and you could start working on a set of powerful essays

We would like to take this opportunity to offer you a detailed evaluation for free. Should you feel the need for the same, please do reach out to us

All the best!
