I tutor both sections (Verbal and Quant - though I seem to getting many more Verbal students these days!). You mentioned "I am confident in Quant section and I am able to finish all the questions with 10 to 15 minutes to spare but my silly mistakes affect the score". The next time you give a mock consider "artificially" slowing yourself down to spread your time over the entire section.

Hi PgRaul,

To start, finishing any section of the GMAT 10-15 minutes early is usually not a good sign; with that much extra time left at the end, you almost certainly rushed through questions and made some little mistakes (which cost you points on prompts that you might have gotten correct if you had slowed down, taken more notes, double-checked your work, etc.).

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day did not turn out better. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. It's not clear whether you actually need tutoring at this point or not though. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) When did you take your 1st Official GMAT?
2) How long have you studied in total? How many hours do you typically study each week?
3) Have you used any other study materials besides the books that you mentioned? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your exact overall goal score?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC ,
Thank you for the suggestions. Yes. I need focus more and not rush through the quant section. I am currently working on that. As I said, I am confident in the quant section and currently I need help with my Verbal Section. I am searching for online coaching or personalized tutor to help me improve my verbal points by 10-15 points.

To answer your questions :
Studies:
1) When did you take your 1st Official GMAT? MARCH 1st
2) How long have you studied in total? How many hours do you typically study each week? Try to study for 2-3hrs on weekdays and 4hrs on weekend.
3) Have you used any other study materials besides the books that you mentioned? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used? No, those are the only materials. I have used mocks from mba.com, Manhattan prep, ExpertsGlobal and few other free ones
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)? I took mostly one every week, sometimes once every two weeks and my mock test score in Quant ranges from Q47 to Q49 and in Verbal it is between V26 TO V31.

Goals:
4) What is your exact overall goal score? My Goal is above 720, though I will be happy if it is in 700 range
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to? I plan to apply to colleges in Europe

Finishing the exam 10-15 mins earlier is not a good sign unless one is a professional GMAT expert. Try to reconsider your answer before proceeding further and do not rush.

We, GMATBusters, do provide online one tutoring sessions for both Quant and Verbal. Feel free to PM for demo session or any specific query.

Happy Learning

PgRaul
Hi Gmat Club Members,
I have been preparing for GMAT and in my first attempt I got 610(V27 Q47). Disappointed with the score, I decided to prepare for GMAT again but unfortunately I don't see any improvement in my score from Mock Tests. I really want to join a coaching so as to get some help and guidance but I am not sure which one to choose. I have heard a lot about GMATNinja and Charles all over GMAT Club and I think GMATNinja will be the best option. Please guide me here and help me with the correct choice. And also if anyone of you has idea about how GMATNinja Tutor works, please let me know. I want to score above 700(get around 50 51 in quant ;) and improve my verbal score by 10-15 points :D) and apply for next fall. Your suggestions are very much appreciated. Thank you.

On other notes :
I used the Official Guide and Manhattan Books(only Verbal). I am confident in Quant section and I am able to finish all the questions with 10 to 15 minutes to spare but my silly mistakes affect the score :(
I need serious help with my Verbal

Hi PgRaul,

Private tutoring is the best option if you feel you need a personal mentor to guide you through your preparation. Your performance will be constantly monitored by the mentor and based on the feedback you can prepare accordingly. This mostly works when students face difficulty in understanding concepts and require a one-on-one interaction with tutors with personalised learning. As a working professional, you also need the flexibility of time as your schedule may permit. Moreover, if you feel you get distracted now and then, and need a mentor to keep you right on track till the end, I suggest you to go with private tutoring.

If you are open to suggestions, I would recommend you to check the private tutoring course offered by GMATWhiz. We offer you a tailor made learning experience with highly experienced teachers at an affordable price and help you indulge in flawlessly personalised learning process. Our tutors have a minimum of 10 years teaching experience and we offer a hybrid learning experience where we combine the best of online learning (technology) with private tutoring. Also, the round-the-clock availability feature allows you to book the slot of your choice not having to worry about our availability on your convenient time. We use an AI based learning platform to do 3 things:

1. Get you a personalized trackable study plan that adapts in real time
2. Track your performance on the portal against 20+ data points for each question.
3. Help you learn the basic concepts through video lessons, thereby saving the number of private tutoring hours you need. (These video lessons are created by the same experts who teach you)

The tutor uses these data points before each session to identify the gaps in your learning and create relevant content for discussion. Hence each session is 5 times more effective than those offered by other private tutors as you get pin-point advice on exact reasons behind your mistakes. As a result, you get the maximum output with minimum number of sessions.

You can check out the free demo on GMATWhiz and decide for yourself if it is the one you are looking for.

You can also go through the below link to see how William, with a full time, hectic job schedule, achieved a Q50 and V40 with GMATWhiz private tutoring, exhaustive videos, and the strategies, bringing it to a GMAT 740:
