2. x + y > 0

Question 3 --> If x and y are integers and x > 0, is y>0 ?

One more on data suff.

1. n is a multiple of 15. Sufficient, this is what questions is asking.

2. n + 6 is a multiple of 3. Insufficient.
(n+6) can have values like 9, 12, 15, 21 etc
Only in case (n+6) is 21, n would be a multiple of 15. For other values, its not.

1. xy > 0.
2. x + y > 0

1. xy > 0 - Insufficient
For this to be true, either both x and y should be +ve or both -ve
Example 1: x=-2, y=-3
xy = 6 >0

Example 2: x=2, y=3
xy = 6 >0

hence Insufficient to determine if x is +ve or -ve

2. x + y > 0 ...Insuffiecient
This can be possible for
Example 1: x=-2 and y=5
Example 2: x= 2 and y=5

hence Insufficient to determine if x is +ve or -ve

3. Together: Sufficient
From 1 we know either both x and y are +ve or both -ve
2nd option cannot be held true for both x and y being -ve
Hence both are positive.

One more on data suff.

1. 7x - 2y > 0.
2. -y < x.

Given x > 0, to find if y>0

1. 7x - 2y > 0
or, 2y < 7x
or, y < 7/2x ... insufficient
Example, when x = 2
y < 7, means y can have -ve or +ve value less than 7

2. -y < x
or, y > -x ... insufficient
Example, when x = 2
y > -2, means y can be -1, 0, 1, 2 .. etc

3. Together ... Insufficient
-x < y < 7/2x
Example, when x = 2
=> -2 < y < 7
Hence y can have both +ve and -ve value
