Need help in evaluating my score - 20 days left

Question

Hi everybody! My name is Marco and I'm 23. I'm from Italy, therefore I'm not a native speaker (I hope it's not so evident

) I have a background in communication and marketing, with 4 years of experience in a web marketing agency I have my GMAT scheduled for december 20th, so I've only 20 days left. It would be really helpful for me to get an opinion from anybody in this forum. I noticed that there are so many prepared people here.

Here's my CATs list (dd/mm/yy): 12/08/21 - Cold Mock: Gmat Prep 1 - q44, v28, score: 600 - imho not a bad score to start with, especially since I'm not a native speaker 12/09/21 - 1 month of prep: Gmat Prep 2 - q43, v29, score: 600 - 1 month of prep, no results. I was desperate... a couple days after this CAT I decided to start Magoosh prep 24/10/21 - 2 months of prep: MGmat 1 - q47, v34, score: 670 - After completing Magoosh, not bad... 29/10/21 - 2,5 months of prep: MGmat 2 - q45, v32, score: 640 - Fever at 38,5°, I was testing how I would have performed in a similar situation the test day 31/10/21 - 2,5 months of prep: Gmat Club - q48, v42, score: 730 - I couldn't believe my eyes. I don't even know if this is a reliable score 09/11/21 - 3 months of prep: Gmat Prep 3 - q50, v32, score: 680 - my first q50, not bad. After this I started focusing on Verbal 18/11/21 - 3 months of prep: Gmat Prep 4 - q50, v35, score: 710 - I felt sick the day before, I had high fever, but I couldn't stop

23/11/21 - 3,5 months of prep: MGmat 4 - q44, v37, score: 670 - I hear that manhattan quant is more difficult that original one, but I don't know how much. Little improvement on verbal, not bad 29/11/21 - 3,5 months of prep: MGmat 6 - q46, v38, score: 690 - I'm quite satisfied with it, but I don't know if that q46 is due to an incomplete prep in quant or it's just "normal" for a Manhattan test. I have the last 2 Gmat Prep for 06/12/21 and 13/12/21. I will keep you updated I realistically need a 680+ to apply for my dream business schools, but I'm aiming for a 700+ to compensate a good - but not so great - GPA (27,75 on 30 in Italian Grading System). Based on the CATs I took, what score do you think I can realistically hit on test day? If needed, I can schedule another couple of attempts between January and February. Hi Marco.

It appears that you'd likely score between 700 and 730 if you were to take the GMAT today. I'm basing this estimate mostly on your most recent official practice test score of 710, your more recent MPrep test scores, which are likely lower than you would score on the actual GMAT, and the fact that you have continued to prepare since your most recent official practice test.

To lock in a score in that range and drive your expected range higher, keep strengthening weaker areas of quant, learn to see more of what's going on in verbal questions, and continue to improve accuracy by being more careful and intense when you take a test.

The MGMAT CATs are generally regarded as being a little tougher than the Official GMAT, but they do provide a reasonable accurate assessment of your skills (assuming that you took your CATs/mocks in a realistic fashion that matches-up with how you will take the Official GMAT). All things considered, your results show that you likely have the necessary knowledge to score in the 700s (but the variations in your individual results could be the result of lucky/unlucky guesses and/or little mistakes - that you either made or did not make on individual Exams). Thus, at this point, you have to really 'nitpick' your CAT results to determine why you're getting questions wrong.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi! First of all, thank you everybody for your answers, you're helping me so much! It's also a great relief for me to know that I can actually hit my target score.

Hi! Thank you for your reply. Here's some additional info about me:
1) I'm a full-time worker, so I'm studying 20-30 hours each week. In the next (and last) 20 days I'm planning to study 30 hours/week.
2) I've used the GMAT Official Guide 2022 and Magoosh for Theory; OG, Magoosh and GmatWhiz for quizzes; GmatPrep and Manhattan for Mocks.
3) I'm planning to apply to business schools between February and March 2022. I'm going to apply to the MSc in Management / Marketing Management (most probably the latter, it depends on the BS). The Business Schools I'm planning to apply are (in order of preference): London Business School, Bocconi University (Milan), Imperial College of London, Rotterdam School of Management and LUISS Guido Carli (Rome).

I could have done slightly better on the test day, but I'm perfectly fine with this score!

This is fantastic news! A 710/Q49 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to all of the Schools that you've listed. Since that list includes some highly-competitive Programs, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans.
