Strategy to attack this type of questions is first check what is constant in this situation Time Distance or Speed then equate the constant Here Distance is same so you can use formula of avg speed 2ab/a+b 40*60/40+60 = 48 and time taken = D/S 240+240/48=10 Hr

To do 240 miles at 60 mph will take 4 hours. To do 240 miles (on the return journey) at 40 mph will take 6 hours.
