I am no expert,but would share my bit.

Usually People doing MSF, do their CFA Level 1 and 2 during the course. Infact CFA syllabus is vast enough to give you required knowledge in finance.

MFE is completely different from MSF.
MFE is hard core quant based course. Its more on the line of quantitative finance.

It depends on you which schools/course you want to apply

Haas school of business
MIT Sloan
St Olin ( Washington University)
Boston College
Simon Rochester 
CMU
