Shwarma
Hey everyone!
I have been around Gmatclub for around 7 months now.
I gave my second GMAT attempt a week ago.

I score 655 (93rd Percentile)
Order V-DI-break- Q

V- 83, DI- 83, Q82
this is entirely based on using resources from GMAT club and OG.
I want to score 685+
IDK what I need to do for this.

Things I need to work on:
1. I got 4 qs wrong in exam - all 4 were CR - so improve CR
2. DI - two-part and table analysis
3. Quant - I saw lengthy qs, that I spent too much time on, so I didn't have time for last two qs ( so strategy) and and deffo probability qs

Given these insights I have
Should I enroll in any coaching classes
if self-paced should I refer to any new material ... or resolve OG again ?
I am a little lost
Can you please help me out here
Hi Shwarma,

Congratulations, 655 is a very good score!

As for CR, do you normally make a lot of mistakes in critical reasoning? If you need to work on CR and are open to using material outside GMAT club, you could use this course.
Hi Ajitesh!

Thank you so much!
I am good at CR which are in the easy - medium level
In the hard-level qs, I get to a position where I cannot reason through any answer choice and feel - wait none of them work...
and go over them again
and I get anxious when I do the second pass and - most of the time I get them wrong and also lose time .. coz I went through the option set twice

I am open to courses outside of gmatclub and thank you, I will go through the linked youtube series
thank you so much!!

Hi Shwarma,

It's good to see that you've identified some issues to work on! And don't worry too much about having to read a hard question twice. You can, however, check whether you've understood the logic and task. Consider coming up with a short (mental) summary of the situation and task before you get into the options.

How much were you scoring in official mocks?

Did you already enroll in some coaching earlier? If yes, you perhaps just need to be more thorough with that material. After all, the 30 point deficit that you currently have from your target score, is very achievable.

Hey!

Great job on scoring 655! If all 4 of your wrong answers were in CR, it could be fair to assume that focusing on CR could help. Check out advanced GMAT questions book to see if you're struggling with higher difficulty levels or specific types of questions.

For quant, time management is key. Set markers for different stages—for example, after 5 questions, a certain amount of time should remain. This will help you avoid spending too much time on any one question.

Hi Shwarma,

So, the good news is that you are in a pretty nice spot!

That said, you must continue to find your holes and fix them to improve your score. Topical practice is a great way to do that.

For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant, verbal, and DI topics.
