Thanks for it!
I had started as you've done, but then I stopped because I had more unknown variables than equations. I didn't think to consider R+T.
But now it is obvious, like usually when I see the answer....

Yeah, you have to complete 1600 posts!

Come on Laxie, you can't give up like this. You will become a CEO one day, there are very few women who think beyond conventional things. You have to become a CEO one day! Like HP's Carly Fiorina!

Himalaya, thanks for the wishes buddy!

Becoming a CEO does sound very interesting! :) . Indeed, I prefer being behind a successful man to support him to the possibly highest status :wink: . Thank you anyway, buddy :)

Congraats Vivek!

More important than the number (1600+) what I like about you (for that matter Laxie, HIMALAYA, Paul, Matt....) is how you have achieved this feat - by helping lost souls, by taking the time to explain your answers, by posting the questions that you think will help others....

Those are the qualities of NICE GUYS.. And NICE GUYS/GALS (Laxie will thrash me here if I don't include GALS) always finish first. Here is an article from Yahoo finance:
https://finance.yahoo.com/columnist/article/leadership/2513

Wish you a great luck to be a CEO some day!...

Laxie!
The world has definitely moved forward from the gender bais. You could definitely be a CEO some day!

For both of you:
Don't forget me though :wink:

Giddi buddy, welcome you back sometimes :) . I really appreciate all your encouragement!! Thank you so much for that!! :) . It's over midnight here, I can't help feeling some touched as I recall all those great moments i've spent here with these great people/ friends. I also heartfully wish all of us getting into good b-schools, gaining sufficient knowledge and (possibly) cooperating with e/other in career path someday :) ....
Now that this place is in heart, not only in mind, I will never forget ....

Nice diagram Lax, but maybe it`s less confusing to use variables for the angles.

RQS/RSQ=Y
TUS/TSU=Z
QSU=X

Now using kindergarden geometry rules:

1. X+Y+Z= 180

and

2. (180-2Y) + (180-2Z) = 90 (Interior angle sum of a triangle, given the 90 deg measure in the figure)

Do the straightforward math from 2: 360-2Y-2Z= 90 ---> Z+Y= 135

Substitute into the first equation: X+135=180 ----> X= 45

Must admit, setting this up took longer than two minutes and I probably would have panicked on T-day and chosen (C) as an intuitive guess. 8-)

Buddy MATT, if there is some trap, then these inutitive guesses are not correct. I think the best approach to solve it upto a certain step then use intutive guess.

Congratulations to vivek for his new Job :wink: and Lexi for approaching her new assignment. :beer

Critical observation is enough for this one..

Just pick any point S on RS.

To satisfy i and ii statements you would have exactly 1 point each Q and U on RP and PT respectively . Now with S fixed you can have a unique set of points Q and P. So it should be possible to determine X in all scenarios using i and ii.

If this were a PS I would have started sweating after 2 mins. :)
